Najwa Karam at World of Fashion 2014 Event Advertisement

If you think that I look for an excuse to make a post featuring Najwa Karam... you're probably right.
Since Najwa Karam has been named the guest of honour at the Harper's Bazaar World of Fashion 2014 event at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, it gives me the rightful excuse to write a post featuring the eternally graceful Queen of Fashion and Elegance.
After continuous success as a singer and now after three seasons as a judge on MBC's Arabs Got Talent, the diva has been increasingly recognised for her successful fashion choices and many would identify her as a modern day fashion icon.
"Najwa Karam is very well known. She captivates audiences with her presence, grace and style. She has made a strong name for herself in the Arab World as a singer, and we are very optimistic and very happy to collaborate with Najwa Karam this year... looking forward to the best outcome." - Hussain Moosa, Associate Director for Mall of the Emirates (Emirates 24/7). Ms Karam will be there at the fashion finale on the 22nd of October in a public Q&A with the attendees so save the date!
(and lets hope she will be revealing an album release date because the well-being of my ears depends on it).

If we can all just remember the wise words of Karl Lagerfeld that said 'Think pink but don't wear it'... That's basically my outlook on this crepe dress by Roland Mouret. It was like they went overboard with the pink and accidentally spilled too much and it just became too concentrated for my taste. I thought the overall style of the dress was rather bland, except the off-the-shoulder silhouette which added to her femininity and saved the dress from completely burning.

I must have spent half an hour replaying and admiring the part where she gracefully twirls in this fringed wool-blend dress from Lanvin's Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection when the video was first uploaded.
The colour palette - which is completely suitable to the season - and gradient is so well put together in this dress and adds to the delicate movement fabricated by the varying sizes of the fringing. Something I would probably not opt for at first glance but works magic!

I think this a-line dress from Gucci's Fall 2014 collection explains itself; bead embroidered silver bodice and rose gold sleeves on top of a silk cady top and a leather skirt. It has a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. However, not suited for top-heavy type figures, as clearly, it highlights the top part of the body like encrusted diamonds.

When I named Najwa Karam the Queen of Fashion and Elegance, I obviously wasn't joking.
Because last and certainly not least, this patterned gold dress from Jenny Packham's Fall 2014 collection looks so flattering and graceful and is beautifully fitted to the diva's figure, it was just different from all of the styles featured in the advertisement/photoshoot and without a doubt my favourite. Najwa gives this dress a whole new flavour and I love it!
I liked how there was a variety of designers featured and the dresses were all from their most recent collections (at the time of the shoot).

Like that wasn't enough to make me want to attend, the event will feature twenty catwalk shows throughout the two weeks, with high-street fashion brands including Kate Spade, Sandro, Juicy Couture, Karen Millen, Ted Baker, to name a few, and Harvey Nichols will also be there to open and close the event!
Lebanese make-up artist Bassam Fattouh will host a booth at the shopping centre for beauty advise and demos and free makeovers, as he shares his expertise with the attendees on the 21st!
Anyone got a spare plane ticket to Dubai!?

Fashionalysed's Fashion Favourites - Elissa

If you've read my previous post, you will know that I have started a Fashion Favourites series of posts, showcasing my favourite dresses throughout the years, worn by the particular celebrity chosen - or breathtaking looks that I couldn't resist but to include, and since Elissa has just recently released her new album, Halet Hob, and since I've been so captivated by it, I thought who better to feature next other than Elissa!
She is not only known for her romantic music and mesmerising voice, but also for her daring yet stylish fashion choices, whether it is for concerts, award shows/formal public appearances or music videos.

**Order in year worn, not personal preference**

Royal Albert Hall (2003)
Elie Saab Fall 2003 Couture

Elissa wore this dress at the Royal Albert Hall in London, 11 years ago, and it was like 'love at first sight' when I saw it. Mr Saab really worked his magic with this twinkling black dress, featuring embellishments in differing sizes, over the slight layer of tulle and nude bodice. The dress, which was from Elie Saab's Fall 2003 collection, has had some changes to from the original, but it made it all the better, and fitting to Elissa's personal style and preference.
I can't tell if it was her body or the dress that made her look this good, but whatever it is, it looks fabulous!

Also, may I just elaborate on the fact that her latest performance in London was 11 year ago, are we that bad of an audience that literally nobody returns?

(finding pictures from the early 2000's proved quite difficult, hence the poor quality)

'Irgaa Lel Shoua' Music Video 2004
Gucci

I would like to take this opportunity to express my endless love for this song, as I think this dress speaks for itself in all its gold sequin goodness.

World Music Awards 2005
Michael Kors
 Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2005

This contributes to the cause of my degrading self-esteem.
Aside from that, how completely and utterly beautiful is this dress? It almost reminds me of a sari in its tasteful, intricate detailing on the bodice of the dress, the slight slits just above the waist, and the effortless drape.
Also, that tan, is what my life lacks.

Layali Dubai 2005
Naji Hejali

Shape, colours, style, what is there not to love about this floor grazing gown? Nothing.

Mission Fashion 2008
Elie Saab 2008 Spring Couture

It doesn't take a lot of effort for me to love something designed by Elie Saab, who was clearly way ahead of the fashion game when designing this dress back in 2008. The beige gown featured a folded detail on the top of the dress, with divine silver embellishments all throughout, as it draped to the clouded floor like a dream,

'Aa Bali Habibi' Music Video 2009
Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2010

There is no other dress that takes me to a whole other world of enchantment as much as this one does. All the way from the top, where the creamy/nude embellishments are concentrated, to the middle as they begin to disperse in twig-like effects, as they lead to the most beautiful ending at the back with the huge-yet-just-right tail. I especially love the fact that it isn't actually a typical white wedding dress, but instead being slightly creamy/light nude coloured, which makes the embellishments standout slightly enough to make the dress look almost textured from within.
I simply cannot express my love for it enough!
Forget about being in a Situation of Love with a person, I'm in a Situation of Love with this dress!

X Factor Arabia 2013
Elie Saab

The Diva looked like a Greek Goddess in this simple yet elegant white Elie Saab number, with loosely fitted sleeves and an opposing fitted bodice that draped off ever so gracefully.
It made her body appear hour-glass shaped and ultimately free of any flaws.

X Factor Arabia 2013
Marchesa

Elissa wore this form-fitting navy dress by Marchesa for one of the X Factor Arabia episodes. The dress featured a transparent crystallized veil-like tulle decoration attached to the top of the dress, where it is slightly longer than the dress at the back and waist length at the front.
A definite favourite!

'Te'ebt Mennak' Video Clip 2013
Tom Ford Fall 2012

One of my favourite looks from the Te'ebt Mennak music video - the other so happens to be an open back as well - the Lebanese songstress looked alluring in this Tom Ford fall 2012 red dress, with the signature shoulder to hip zipper detailing. The dress is plain red at the front, with a slight section of the zipper showing at the hip.
This dress appears to be especially popular between the stars, as the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence - to name just a few - have previously worn it in different colours.
The only thing that I will criticise in regards to this dress, is the wide open back section, which in effect widens the back, however, the second open back dress worn in the video featured a long open back, which, in contrast to this one, elongates and makes the back appear thinner.

Thank you for reading, share and comment your thoughts and if you have any celebrity requests for my next Fashion Favourites
(Please remember, these are simply my personal favourites, there were more dresses that I would have liked to add, but I would have been here all year, so I kept them at a minimum.)
